Interest & Engagement
To demonstrate the promise of this app, I conducted research surveying a small sample of individuals ages 18 to 23. The findings, illustrated below, highlight strong interest and engagement potential, revealing that the app can achieve significant success upon launch.
Preliminary Research Survey Findings
After conducting a preliminary survey to determine whether the product would meet consumers’ needs, the research revealed that a majority of respondents would find an app designed to curate personal style highly useful. Participants indicated that both the Outfit Explore Page, which allows users to browse other users’ outfits, and the Outfit Curator, which builds outfits based on user input and learns from their interactions, would be highly utilized, making the app a go-to choice for everyday styling.
If there were an app that combines Instagram’s social sharing with Pinterest’s saving and inspiration boards, how interested would you be in using it (5 being I'd always use it and 1 being beyond unlikely)?

Clothing Consumerism: Busing Less, Paying More
Recently, the fashion world has exploded, charging customers obscene amounts for basic items when an entire wardrobe is bought; however, this has come at a time when consumers have changed the way they shop. The new trend can be classified as less for more: fewer items for a higher price, that last longer and can build numerous different outfits. This comes at a time when fast fashion is increasingly threatened by shifting purchasing priorities: sustainability and longevity.

A survey was sent out to 57 females ages 18-25 regarding their shopping habits and how they navigate spending and quality. The results as indicated below coincide with the recent shift of consumerism: buying less for more.

Carolina Ferrer
“I prefer to spend more money on fewer high quality items as I like to ensure that I have a closet of pieces that last for years and that are timeless. Good quality is always worth it, even given a higher price tag! This is not just because of the materials used, but also the brand's sustainability, ethical sourcing, and overall better practices so you can ensure a quality garment."
Lexi Spector
“Typically, I’d rather spend more money on fewer items with better quality than spend less money on a greater amount of items that are not necessarily of the same quality because I prefer to purchase things that will last long and provide me with longer-term effects. I try to buy less for more for this purpose as well as to make strong financial decisions.”
Jordyn Geller
“As a last-semester graduate preparing to get a job in the sports industry, I would rather spend my money on quality clothing that will last and look professional than spend less money but have clothing that is not of quality that I feel good wearing to work everyday.”
